Observations and Comments

This species is distributed broadly along the eastern Andes from Colombia to Peru at low to moderate elevations (see Miller, 1989; Am. Mus. Novit. No. 2938). In Ecuador, E. frigida has been recorded from 990 down to 200 meters. The specimen shown bears the following label data: ECUADOR: Napo; 25 km W on Tena--Tulag road, 2,000 ft, Río Latunyacu, 23 May 1993, leg. J.S. Miller & E. Tapia, on rocks in stream nr. R. Latunyacu.
