Rearing results and development time

As of May 2003, N=23 rearings from subsamples of 5 groups: 4 eclosed, 6 were parasitized, 13 died.

Observations and comments

Caterpillars are fairly large (>3cm long), feed in initial groups of over 20, and can eat an entire vine, stem and all. After parasitized caterpillars construct thier pupal chambers and pupate, tachinid larvae emerge and pupate next to their hosts.
