LIFE HISTORY DATA

Rearing results and development times

As of May 2003, N= 70 rearings: 59 eclosed, 3 were parasitized, 6 died.
Time as pupa:17-22 days (N = 41, modes = 19 and 21).

Host plants

 Sterculiaceae: Theobroma cacao

Parasitoids

Tachinidae (3): Lespesia sp. N=2. Parasitized caterpillars would construct a pupal chamber and the tachinid larvae would emerge and pupate there.

Predators

 

Observations and comments

 Larvae will only eat soft new leaves of Cacao, before they turn from red to green.
