Observations and comments |
We found both a green and a deep purple morph of this species. The ichneumonid emerged from an early (1-2) instar larvae. The tachinid species appeared in a later instar caterpillar. The developing larvae of this species (shown in the detail above) pushed their spiracles through the integument of the caterpillar to breathe air directly (note the bruises around the spiracles, and above the spiracle on the second segment in the photo). |
